Pylometric Exercises: What it is and how to do it

Whether you’re getting back into fitness, hitting the gym for the first time or just looking for a way to challenge or change your workout; Plyometric training might be just what you have been looking for.

Plyometric exercises use explosive body weight moves that exert muscles by using maximum force in short intervals that increases power. Some exercises include burpees, star jumps and broad jumps.

The movements can increase strength and burns a lot of calories, which is perfect to helping you get ready for that summer body.

The exercise movements are used by sprinters, high jumpers, volleyball players and even football players as a training tool.

There are many benefits to plyometric exercises and these include:

  • Improve muscle strength and jumping abilities that will help increase power

To increase power, your muscle fibers will need to strengthen and increase. The fibers are call fast-twitch fibers and plyometric training can strengthen them.

  • An increase of tendon strength which can lead to fewer injuries.
  • As the movements are explosive it can help increase athletic abilities and coordination
  • Best of all the exercises don’t require equipment!
