Congratulations to long-term member, Marina Theodorakopoulos, C-Life’s February Member of the Month.

Marina has been a Member of C-Life since 2005 and was nominated for her dedication to her health and fitness goals.

You’ve been a member of C-Life since 2005. What inspired you to join and what changes have you seen at C-Life since that time?

I initially joined on a 10-visit pass. My husband had a knee reconstruction and needed to do some rehab, I came along with him and haven’t stopped since. So much has changed since 2005. The size of the gym is the biggest change. The gym was quite small with only 2 rooms and it was upstairs near the squash courts. Group fitness classes were held on the ground floor in a function room from what I can remember.

Tell us about your health and fitness journey and what accomplishment you are most proud of?

I’ve always been quite active and as a child played lots of sport, so it’s a lifestyle to me. After having kids my aim was to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight. I’m proud that I’ve achieved it, and even lost more than my pre-pregnancy weight, and have been able to maintain that.

What does your weekly training routine comprise of and how do you stay motivated?

My weekly routine is 2 Personal Training sessions with Mat, 2 strength sessions and 1- 2 spin classes. I spend 5-6 days at C-Life.

You’ve been training with Mat for almost 6 years. What would you say are the benefits of having a personal trainer?

I would say the benefits of having a trainer would be accountability, motivation and pushing you that little bit harder every time.

What is your favourite group fitness class and why?

Spin is definitely is my favourite – it’s short and high intensity.

What does being a member of C-Life mean to you?

It’s my sanity! It’s the 1 hour I have to myself, to do something for myself without kids hanging off me. I leave them in creche and go!

What do you do outside of the gym?

Outside of the gym, other than taking my kids to their activities, we like to go on bike rides and swimming.

What is your favourite post workout meal?

Normally it’s just a protein shake and a coffee in Bakehouse Café with other members who have now become great friends.
