STAFF SPOTLIGHT: ANGELA

Posted on Thursday, 28 December 2023

Tell us about your role at C-Life. How long have you been here for? What is your favourite part of your job?

I have worked at C-life since it opened its doors 21 years ago (back then it was called Canterbury Health Club). I was employed as the Admin Co-Ordinator in a full time role and also worked as a personal trainer part time.

Since I have had 3 children, I now work part time as a team leader and personal trainer.

My favourite part of the job is getting to know our members and to help them achieve their Health and Fitness Goals.

You are also an experienced Personal Trainer. What was your motivation in becoming a Personal Trainer and what do you enjoy most about personal training?

My motivation in becoming a Personal Trainer was to help clients with the physical transformation (weight loss/ muscle gain) and more importantly their mental wellbeing.

It is especially rewarding seeing the physical and mental benefits of exercise prescription for clients pre and post pregnancy, with injuries, special needs, and clients with mental health issues.

How do you like to spend your time outside of work?

Any free time I have, you will be sure to find me at the beach or the pools.

What is your favourite form of exercise?

I love swimming and weight training equally. Swimming clears my mind, but the feeling I get from weight training and pushing myself to the next rep or set doesn’t compare.

If you could eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Mangoes or Pineapples. Hard to choose one.

What is your favourite movie and why?

GREASE! I have watched this movie a million times. I think I was born in the wrong era.

If you could work in any other industry, what would it be?

Probably the travel industry, but I feel if I didn’t love the fitness industry so much, I would not have been working in it since I was 19 years old. I believe that I will be working in this industry as long as I’m physically able to.

Tell us something we do not know about you?

I’m the only staff member who doesn’t drink coffee, but I have an addiction to the Tropical Frappe’s from the bakehouse. I have one every shift!
