STAFF SPOTLIGHT: LEEDIA

Posted on Monday, 30 October 2023

Tell us about your role at C-LIFE and what is your favourite part of your job?

My role has evolved over the years as changes have occurred with staffing and with the service needs. Broadly speaking, I am one of three staff that works in C-Life Admin area, managing our member’s needs, assisting staff with our processes and procedures relating to memberships in general. Part of my role is to also work a few hours per week at reception providing customer service. As a Team Leader for C-Life, I try to support our staff by providing them with additional information and guidance that will hopefully extend their skills & knowledge in providing quality customer service.

How did you get into the health and fitness industry?

I became a gym member of C-Life in 2002, soon after my husband joined. I really enjoyed the health & fitness environment. I was fortunate to be offered a casual position until I eventually chose to leave my first employment and extend my hours and role at C-Life.

What’s your favourite exercise or C-Life Group Exercise class?

Boxing, H.IT, Spin & Yoga would be the training that I loved the most. There is great satisfaction gained being in a challenging group environment that keeps you motivated and gets great results.

What is your favourite cheat meal?

I’m generally a small meals person. I have never enjoyed fried foods, but I do like a good éclair or pastries.

How do you like to spend your time outside of work?

These days I’m mostly with my hubby, family, and friends, meeting up at cafes and family gatherings (boring? It means everything to me).

If you could be a superhero or celebrity, who would you be and why.

Maybe Plastic-Man or Ant-Man because I could change my size and form as I needed to. I would love to know what it’s like to be tall….

What advice can you give to somebody who is wishing to join C-Life for the first time.

Having started as a C-Life member before moving into a staff role, I have been fortunate enough to have aways been welcomed by the staff and by C-Life members. If someone is searching for a place where they can gain benefits from training, in a welcoming environment, then C-Life is the place to be. You will get staff support when you need it and make connections with other members if you seek it. The instructors offer fun but challenging sessions. You don’t need to feel alone at C-Life.

You have already completed 17 years of service at C-Life, what now motivates you to continue working at C-Life

My role is quite varied, where some days I spend all day in the admin role, the next day I could be assisting with the daily challenges of the business, and other times I am with members that may need some encouragement or a listening ear. In other words, I enjoy the variety in my job and it brings me satisfaction that we are, hopefully, making our members’ experience at C-Life an enjoyable one.
