MEMBER OF THE MONTH: JOHN

Tell us a bit about your workout routine. Do you prefer working out at a certain time of day (morning, afternoon, evening)? Why?
I train 3–4 times a week, combining strength and cardio. I use dumbbells, weight machines, and do virtual spin classes, aiming for 30km per session. I’ve recently gotten back into boxing on Tuesdays and Saturdays, which I really enjoy.
During the week, I train in the afternoons due to work, and on my days off or weekends, I’m usually in the gym by 5:30am. I’m flexible with training times and prefer to finish before peak hours.
What’s your strategy for staying motivated long-term?
I don’t need much to stay motivated — I’ve been active throughout my life and genuinely enjoy training. It helps me stay focused and supports both my physical and spiritual wellbeing.
It’s the ultimate stress release, especially with a demanding (and fulfilling) job as a Social Worker. If I didn’t have other commitments, I’d train seven days a week!
What’s your favourite way to unwind or relax after a tough workout?
After training, I love a hot shower, then I relax and usually have a light meal like raw nuts with yogurt in the evening. I also like to unwind with my family until they’re asleep, then enjoy some “me” time — listening to and playing guitar until late. I survive on five hours of sleep, but I’d definitely benefit from more!
What’s the most unexpected benefit you’ve gotten from training?
C-Life is a very social place — I’ve met some lovely people and formed strong friendships. Training regularly has given me more energy to tackle daily demands and keeps me mentally solid, providing a positive outlook and zest for life.
