Revive participants reveal how exercise has changed their lives

Posted on Tuesday, 12 March 2024

This month in replacement of our usual ‘Member of the Month’ feature, to honour NSW Senior’s Festival 2024, we asked a variety of Revive participants to discuss how exercise has changed their lives. We asked member’s Peter, Marilyn, Ana, Andrew, Therese, Sylvana, Houda & Frank.

What made you join C-Life and attend the Revive classes?

  • My daughter encouraged me and my husband to start exercising. She noticed that we weren’t as mobile, and things were getting harder to do. I already feel the difference in the way I’m walking.
  • I was told that exercise could help control my Diabetes.
  • I wasn’t comfortable with exercising by myself. The class gives me guidance, and being with others in my position and time of life is a bonus.

How has it made a difference to your life?

  • I have so much more energy to get through the day, even after a tough workout!
  • My self esteem has really improved, I believe in what I can do so much more even with some health issues.
  • It’s really helped me get out of my shell and meet new people.

What advice would you give to someone thinking about attending the class for the first time?

  • Just do it!
  • Support is available to you, don’t hold back.
  • Even though the exercise is challenging, it makes everything else feel easier.

What do you enjoy most about the class?

  • The instructors are very helpful and qualified to give the right exercises.
  • The variety – it’s never boring.
  • The things that I can achieve, the fact that I have the determination to get started and keep going.

Revive classes focus on strength and balance, specifically important for healthy ageing. Have you noticed a difference since coming to the class?

  • My balance was poor, and I was afraid of having a fall. I’m more confident now.
  • It’s really helped with shoulder pain I suffered from chronically.
  • My leg strength has improved, and I can walk further distances confidently.
  • The shopping is easier to carry!
