Say hi to Mat, one of C-Life longest-working staff member since November 2009. He teaches lots of classes for C-Life and will out-spin, out-cycle and out-blitz your bum off – particularly in his Monday 6am Blitz classes! He is also an experienced Personal Trainer and you’ll often see him on the floor training his clients.
Tell us about your position at C-Life and what is your favourite part of your job?
PT, gym floor and group fitness instructor. My favourite part is seeing people grow, achieve their goals and develop their confidence
Have you had any other jobs/career paths before working in health & fitness?
As a teenager I worked at McDonald’s like I think a lot of people have done, but once I finished school, I had an internal sales job.
What got you into the health & fitness industry?
I have always been active in sports as a kid and as a teenager, I got into training and achieved some strong results. My enjoyment and excitement for training grew which motivated me to explore my options to help others do the same.
Who is your inspiration and why?
Maybe not so much of inspiration but what drives me is my family – setting an example for them, being the best I can and to give them the best of me. I want to work as hard as I can to provide the best life and experiences especially for my kids .
What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
Trust yourself and give it your best.
When you are not working, what do you like doing on your days off?
My days off are normally based around my family, doing things with my kids and spending time with them and having some fun. I also enjoy getting out when I can to play a bit of golf.
When you have a chance to travel overseas again, which country will you visit and why?
Anywhere that’s away from the cold.
