STAFF SPOTLIGHT: ROSA

- How did you first discover yoga, and what drew you to teach it over other forms of exercise?
I discovered yoga during a challenging time, and it truly saved me. It helped me reconnect with myself and realise that true transformation comes from within. This powerful experience inspired me to teach yoga and share its benefits with others.
Yoga is not just physical exercise – it’s a path to self-exploration, healing, and growth. Yoga teaches us in and out of the yoga mat.
- What’s the most rewarding part of being a yoga instructor for you?
The highlight is the feedback from my students – when they come up to me after class and say, “I feel so good.”
It’s not necessarily the physical practice; it’s that they are making conscious space in their life to connect with their inner world, even if it’s just temporary – it is the greatest reward. It means that they’ve tapped into the true essence of yoga.
- How do you balance fitness with other aspects of your life, like work or personal time?
I work on myself daily, strengthening my yoga journey while preparing to teach others. Teaching yoga is continuous learning, offering new insights and growth alongside my students.
Yoga teaches balance, not just in movement but in life – balancing work, social life, and self-care and influences what we eat, see, hear, and how we interact with the world.
- What’s one common misconception about yoga that you love to debunk?
There are three big misconceptions!
“I can’t do yoga because I’m not flexible.”
You don’t need to be flexible; it is the result. Yoga is for anyone, and modifications are always given to suit each person’s needs -whether you are an athlete, 100 years old or a child.
“Yoga is just stretching.”
Not at all! A well-rounded yoga session includes balance, strength, flexibility, and endurance. It’s a mind and full-body practice that includes backbends, forward folds, twists – all while building awareness and deep relaxation.
“Yoga is just another workout”
While yoga undoubtedly improves physical fitness, it is so much more than that. It is a practice that nourishes the mind, body, and soul, offering a sanctuary to reset, reconnect, and improve a broader sense of well-being.
